The Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential is a national credential earned through the Council for Professional Recognition. It can be earned as a family/group home child care provider, a center-based infant/toddler provider, or a center-based preschool provider.
A CDA credential is earned by:
· working in a licensed or registered early childhood program with children birth to age 5
· participating in classes related to young children and their care
· creating a resource file
· being observed in the role of lead teacher
· having parents complete surveys
· an interview and testing by a national representative
All of the classes offered by Kent Regional 4C Education Department count toward the training requirement of the CDA. An Education Specialist at Kent Regional 4C can help providers select classes.
